SRM Residential is a licensed real estate agency based in North Sydney. We respect your privacy and are committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What Data We Collect
The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:
Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number and postal address
- Property preferences, transaction details and correspondence
- Identity information collected as part of our legal compliance obligations (see below)
- Technical data such as IP address and browser type when you visit our website
Where required by law, including under Australia’s anti-money laundering laws, we may also collect identity verification information and, in limited circumstances, sensitive information such as whether you hold or have held a prominent public position. Data Collection
We collect personal information directly from you when you contact us, complete a form, or engage our services. We may also collect information from public records and through our authorised third-party identity verification provider, who assists us in meeting our legal compliance obligations.
Data Usage
We use your personal information to:
- Provide and manage our real estate services
- Communicate with you about your transaction or enquiry
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act)
- Send you information about new projects or opportunities,
- Improve our services and user experience
Data Sharing
We share your personal information only where necessary. This may include:
- Our authorised third-party identity verification provider
- Other professionals involved in your transaction, such as conveyancers or finance brokers
- SRM’s existing panel of third-party service providers who provide support. SRM advises that as part of its services it intends to provide, refer purchasers to those services providers
- AUSTRAC and other regulatory or law enforcement agencies, where required by law
- Other entities in our AML/CTF reporting group, where applicable
Overseas Disclosure
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. Contact us for details about the countries involved.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This includes encryption, access controls and contractual obligations on our third-party providers. In the event of a data breach likely to cause serious harm, we will comply with our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches Policy.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law. Information collected for AML/CTF purposes is retained for a minimum of seven years. After the applicable retention period, information is securely destroyed or de-identified.
Your Rights
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at privacy@srmresidential.com. We will respond within 30 days. In some circumstances, access may be restricted where required by law.
You may also withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@srmresidential.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
